“We appreciate the ongoing community collaboration to support our mission of helping vulnerable women. Working together with city leaders, we are proud of the progress we’ve seen so far, including a 60% reduction in police calls over the last six months and zero overdoses so far in 2025.

“Beyond the extensive safety and procedural enhancements that have been underway since March, we have made marked improvements and achieved compliance on our outside facade, including enhancing lighting, cameras, windows and the installation of a wraparound security fence. Our staff also conducts perimeter and trash checks twice daily as a result of ongoing safety measures. These checks include the property at 368 West Park Avenue, a locked warehouse located behind the drop-in center that is not utilized for Sanctuary Night programming.

“Sanctuary Night continues to be a transparent and dedicated community partner, and we are committed to doing what is right for our neighborhood and the women we serve. We appreciate the city’s ongoing support as we grow as an organization and refine our processes to best meet the needs of women who depend on our support to free themselves from the bonds of sexual exploitation and addiction.

“We look forward to continuing to embrace open dialogue as we work to stabilize the west side neighborhood.”

“Sanctuary Night remains committed to being a transparent, accountable and supportive partner in the community. We are now in compliance with all court orders and have worked hard to implement new policies, improve security procedures and enhance property safety features, ensuring we meet regulations while exceeding standards of compliance and care.

Notably, no emergency calls were reported in the last month, which is evidence that our measures are working and we are effectively meeting the demand for services while reducing neighborhood disruption.

We remain focused on being good neighbors while helping the city’s most vulnerable women. The city’s support of our work is deeply appreciated and we welcome ongoing collaboration with neighbors, city leaders and community partners as we continue to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care.”

More background information

We believe healing happens when women are surrounded by people who understand both their pain and their potential. Within the second quarter of 2025, our staff delivered more than 85 hours of one-on-one clinical care in May alone and served about 100 unique individuals in June with a total of 700 visits.

Our team of licensed counselors, peer supporters and chemical dependency specialists provides immediate drop-in care, mental and behavioral health services, peer support and direct pathways to detox, treatment and stable housing.
